What are the
benefits of unique AQUOS features?
- AQUOS engine with Advanced Super View Panel
The panel uses and enhanced color filter that allows greater light transmission - providing
a dynamic contrast ratio up to 15,000:1 and 4ms response time for true film-like smoothness.
This means richer color and more accurate, more brilliant depiction of the world on screen.
- Enhanced Black Level
Provides the deepest, most accurate blacks.
- Dynamic Contrast Ratio with Enhanced Picture Contrast Technology
Sharp’s proprietary EPIC technology provides very high dynamic contrast ratios, featuring very deep, true blacks.
- 120Hz frame rate conversion (82U and 92U/93U models)
The frame rate is doubled, reducing animation blur.
- Viewing angle / Multi-pixel technology
By dividing each pixel into two sections and developing an advanced driving system, Sharp’s Multi-Pixel Technology delivers
more natural and accurate color reproduction when viewing the screen from virtually any angle.
This technology improves extreme-angle viewing by approximately 60 percent.
- 4ms response time / Fine Motion
Introduces a high-speed impulse drive to eliminate the problem of blurry moving video images.
- Brightness
AQUOS LCD Televisions are very bright. You can put them virtually anywhere – even
near windows, doors, or other light sources and the picture is still vivid.
- Backlight system (4 or 5 wavelength, active backlight and gamma correction).
Sharp improves on the conventional three-wavelength red, green, and blue LCD backlight by adding a
vivid crimson. The 92U series adds an even deeper green.
- Slim-Line Design
Sharp’s new Slim-line design, featured on the D64 series, is an engineering marvel reduces the TV depth
by 25%, to less than 4”. The D64s also have an extremely narrow bezel, enabling larger screen sizes to fit into smaller spaces.

What size AQUOS
LCD TV should I choose?
- For the best viewing experience, the viewing distance should be about 3 times the diagonal measurement of the
screen.
For example, a 40” screen is about the right size if you are sitting 10 feet (120 inches) away.

What is the
difference between “Full HD” (1080p), 1080i, and 720p?
- These terms refer to the maximum vertical resolution that the television is capable of displaying.
- 1080p (progressive scan) and 1080i (interlaced) have the same resolution (1920 horizontal x 1080 vertical pixels),
but 1080p appears smoother than 1080i. 1080p content is only available today from Blu-ray Disk™ and HD DVD™ players, but a 1080p
set is
the most “future ready.”
- 720p displays a resolution of 1280 x 720. This is much better than standard definition (480p), but not as good
as 1080p.
If you have a relatively large television or will sit relatively close to the screen, having a 1080p flat panel will make an impoved
difference in picture quality.
- Today, some networks broadcast in 1080i and others in 720p. Standard definition broadcasts deliver in up to
480p
vertical resolution. There are no channels broadcasting 1080p today.

What are the
differences between inputs: HDMI™ input, Component, and Composite?
- HDMI™ input provides the highest quality and convenience in an uncompressed digital connection, combining audio
and video in a single
cable. The latest version, 1.3, available on the D64 series, also enables compatibility with xvYCC extended color gamut.
- Component (Red/Green/Blue cables or Y/Pb/Pr) provides a very high quality video connection capable of delivering
HD,
but is bulkier than HDMI™ input and requires a separate audio connection.
- Composite (single yellow-tipped cable) – simple and inexpensive, but not capable of delivering HD quality.
What is required
for home theater or surround sound?
- 5.1 channel (left and right front, center, left and right rear and subwoofer) or better Dolby®
Digital capable audio receiver with speaker system.
